the goings on...

Hello all...
It's been a crazy few weeks for me so far... the weather is nice here in Aptos the past week but the waves are no where to be found.
Just got back from Puerto Rico last week and I must say: If you ever run out of ideas for where to go for vacation go to Puerto Rico. It was about $2,000 for me and my wife, including round-trip airfair and 4 nights at the newest hippest hotel in San Juan called La Concha... Puerto Rico is sick! First of all, you will not believe how beutiful the girls are over there. My wife gave me a free pass to look at all the **** I could get my eyes on. The people are very classy. If you go, be sure to bring lots of nice cloths since most bars, resturants, casinos and clubs have dress codes. I was not happy to here this when we got there since all I brought were swim-trunks and tee-shirts, but you go out and see the scene it will make sense when you see tons of hot chicks dressed to the nine. Definately go to the El Yunque National Rain Forrest. Sweet waterfalls to swim in as well as cool hiking trails. Old San Juan was cool as hell as well, but certainly stay in the newer part of San Juan as that's where all the cool night life is. They also had great waves in Puerto Rico, but they were way too big for me to try... like 30 foot faces!
UFC 84 was sick... my favorite fighter BJ Penn solidified his Lightweight Championship with a solid KO over Sean Sherk in the 3rd round. I've never seen Sherk gas like he did; he dropped his hands and had his mouth open (breathing heavy) and Penn came in with a 3-2 combo and then followed that up with a flying knee that knocked Sherk unconcious. It was also cool to see Wandy get a win after 3 straight losses. One of the greatest events the UFC has ever produced.
Last month I competed in the bigges Jiu-Jitsu tournament I have competed in so far. I dropped from 176 lbs to 162 lbs in less then 3 weeks... I was tired and hungry, but it was totally worth it since I probably should be 155 lbs but I simply drink too much beer on a consistent basis. My first fight was against a young guy (probably 20 years old) who fought MMA. He pulled gaurd and me right from the start and I spent about 3 minutes trying to open his gaurd and pass (2 point move). He was great at maintaining his position but he could not come close to sweeping me or subbing me... I finally got his guard open and in process of trying to pass he stood up in the scramble and then we were both on our feet again. I shot in for a takedown but he spraweld pretty good, so I pulled gaurd from that position. AT this point the fight was scoreless and he had one advatage for trying to cross-colar choke me and I had one advantage for the takedown attempt (an advantage is a score for attempting to do something offensively and will determine the winner of a fight if there is no score at the end). Some yelled" 30 seconds" which meant 30 seconds left in the fight so I attempted a cross-collar choke to gain one more advantage. Time expired and we went to the center of the mat and the ref raised his arm in the air. I was very diaspointed... I could have sworn I had one more advantage then he did... as I was leaving the event I replaying the fight in my head trying to figure out what other advantages he gained. Then my friend Mike came running after me. He said "they made a mistake and you won!" I had to run back out there and the ref raised my hand... it was pretty cool but anti-climactic at the same time. My next fight came and I lost, but it was good to compete and it was good to win.
